New Year Resolution and Renewal of the Divine Covenant
- “One who does not keep his promises has no faith.”
Allah Almighty also loves keeping promises. It is His attribute and is the sign of His true men as well.
Meaning: Allah does not go against His promise. (39:20)
Meaning: Allah never goes against His promises. (22:47)
In light of these verses, it is clear that it is not only essential but also mandatory for the believers to fulfill their promises as it guarantees the preservation of their belief. If Allah has given such importance to promise-keeping in the world, what would be the importance of the promise we committed with Him when we were in the realm of Divinity? Allah has mentioned this promise in Sura al-A’raf. Sultan Bahoo has explained that incident as.
Sultan Bahoo’s explanation
Kun Faya Kun
When Allah wanted to reveal the secret of Kun Faya kun (Divine command of ‘Be’ and it ‘Becomes’), he said that:
·کُنْتُ کَنْزًا مَخْفِیًا فَاَحْبَبْتُاَن اُعْرَفَ فَخَلَقْتُ الْخَلْقَ لِاُعْرَفَ۔
Meaning: I was a Hidden Treasure, I intended to be recognized, so I created the creation.
For this purpose, Allah looked at His left with wrath from which He created Satan’s fire. And then He looked at His right with grace and favor from which He created the brightest light of Mohammad.
Allah took the Divine Covenant
Allah created the souls of all the creatures by saying, Kun. All these souls lined humbly before Allah in groups according to their levels to get further command from Allah.
Allah asked them:
Meaning: Am I, not your God? (7:172)
All the superior as well as inferior souls replied instantly:
قَالُوْا بَلیٰ۔
Meaning: Yes! You are! (7:172)
On accepting Allah as their God, some souls at once regretted such as the souls of the liars, infidels, non-believers, and hypocrites. But some souls were very happy about making this promise. Then Allah asked all the souls, “O’ souls! Ask me anything you want. I shall grant you.” All the souls replied,
“O Allah! We seek only You from You.” Then Allah presented charms and treasures of the world (as He had planned to) on the left side of the souls. First of all the cursed Satan entered the world with the inciting innerself. The charms and beauties of the world mesmerized it. And raised twenty-four calls (or it can be said that it created twenty-four fields of lust in the world to attract the souls towards the world).
Response of ninety per cent souls
On listening to these calls ninety percent of the souls entered the world following Satan. The souls of worldly people responded to these calls instantly. Whoever opted for any one or more of these fields in the spiritual world, adopts the same attributes in the material world. Those who loved the world following Satan drowned in it.
The remaining ten percent of the souls kept standing before Allah humbly. Allah again asked them,
- “O (steadfast) souls! Ask me whatever you want, so I shall grant you.”
These souls replied “O Allah! We demand only You from You.” Then, Allah presented Paradise on the right side with all its pleasures and beauties (houris, castles, delicious foods, etc).
Response of remaining ten percent souls
Nine percent out of the remaining ten percent souls entered Paradise. These were the souls of worshippers and God-fearing people who are the seekers of Paradise. In Paradise, they raised the calls of God-fearing ness and ascetic disciplines. They got perseverance upon the Sharia of Prophet Mohammad. The souls of Islamic scholars, God-fearing people, and ascetics followed them and entered Paradise. The remaining one percent of souls kept standing before Allah respectfully. These truly sincere souls neither put their glance upon the world nor looked towards Paradise even for a moment. Neither had they heard the call of Satan nor Paradise. Because they were drowned in Divine Love being annihilated and immortal with Allah. These were the souls of Fakirs who have got the eternal presence in the Holy Assembly of Prophet Mohammad.
Saying of Holy Prophet
The Holy Prophet said about them:
Holy Prophet pbuh
The Messenger of Allah
Meaning: “Faqr is my Pride and Faqr is from me. The pleasures of the world are forbidden for the seekers of Paradise, pleasures of Paradise are forbidden for seekers of the world. Whereas pleasures of the world and the hereafter both are forbidden for the seekers of Allah. One, who finds Allah, finds everything.
These souls didn’t behold anywhere else but focused only on Allah in the realm of Divinity. They never turn their face away from Allah in their worldly life too.
The Irony
But Alas! We only pay attention to our physical existence and struggle for the beautification of this body. We have ignored our soul has committed to Allah that it will worship, behold and look for His closeness only.
According to a poet:
بے خبر غافل نہ ہو اپنا ٹھکانہ یاد کر
نال ماہی دے جو ہے گزرا وہ زمانہ یاد کر
Explanation: O ignorant seeker, don’t be oblivious (of your soul) and remember your abode. Recall those moments which you had spent with your Beloved.
Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah:
Meaning: And fulfil the promise (made) to Me, I shall fulfil the promise (made) to you. (2:40)
Allah will bless us with His vision and closeness only if we fulfil the promise we made to Him in the realm of Divinity. And strive to refrain from the world and hereafter, concentrate upon Allah and do everything just for pleasing Him.
The Prophet, the Saints and the Fakirs are aware of the reality of the physical world. That is why they do not pay attention to it and clarify this reality to the people also. They teach people to remember their real homeland and renunciate the pleasures of the world. Here, renunciation does not mean leaving the world and going to forests. Rather it means to eradicate everything other than Allah from the heart. Everything which involves one to itself making one oblivious to Allah is the world.
Allah says:
Meaning: Do not set up equals with Allah. (2:22)
The Holy Prophet said about the world.
- “Beware of the world; it is a bigger sorcerer than Harut and Marut.” (Muqashfa-tul-Quloob)
Imam Hussain narrates that once the Holy Prophet came to his Companions and said:
- “Does anyone want to remove his blindfold (inner veil) and know his inner reality? Remember! One who will foster the love of the world and hope from it, Allah will make his heart blind. Contrarily, one who will love Allah and hope in Him, Allah will confer him inspirational knowledge and guide him Himself. After you, such cruel people will come whose wealth will be their arrogance and miserliness. They will follow their desires. Remember! One who finds that era should consider Faqr enough for him and have patience over hatred and weakness. Even if he has the potential to dominate he should not. His focus should only be the consent of Allah. If he follows this, Allah will bless him with faith. (Muqashfa-tul-Quloob)
Verily! This hadith has the best advice by following which we can fulfill our Divine covenant.
Saying of Universal Divine Man about world
The Universal Divine Man of the present era Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman says:
World is created to test man. Hence, to be successful in this trial, a person must live in this world in a manner that worldliness and materialism do not take him over.
The inward that is free from the love of the material world and blessed with the love of Allah is the most endearing and triumphed in the court of Allah.
Need of hour
Now, we must think how to fulfil the Divine covenant and achieve actual success because Allah says in the Holy Quran:
کَذٰ لِکَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰہُ لَکُمُ الْاٰیٰتِ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَتَفَکَّرُوْنَ۔
Meaning: Allah makes clear His signs for you so that you may reflect. (2:266)
Have we ever thought that why we say
(We are from Allah and will return to Him) when anyone dies? Why and for whom do we say that? If we are created for this world then why do we die? If we have to go to another world then what do we need to do in this life to achieve success and tranquillity? Have we ever struggled for success in hereafter or all our efforts are confined to this world only? Do we remember the covenant made with our Lord who is the possessor of unmatched grandeur? Although Allah has mentioned it in the Holy Quran:
Meaning: (These disobedient people are those) who break the promise of Allah after having confirmed it, break that (relationship) which Allah has ordered to be joined, and create disorder in the land. It is they who are the losers. (2:27)
How to know the answers of above questions?
We cannot know the answers unless we thoughtfully ponder upon the questions and try to benefit from the Universal Divine Man knowing these secrets.
It is a famous saying
- “God helps those who help themselves”.
If anyone asks that if we have Holy Quran then why do we need the Universal Divine Man? To answer it an eye-opening fact about Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal is penned below:
At first, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal was against mysticism and Sainthood. Then he got the company of Bashar al-Hafi. Whenever someone came to ask him about Sharia he used to tell that person himself but when it came to spiritualism he used to send him to Bishar Hafi. Seeing this, his followers felt embarrassed and said to the Imam, “You are such a great scholar, why do you send people to a Saint?
The Imam replied, “I have the knowledge of the teachings of Allah but he has the knowledge of Allah. That’s why I send the seekers of Allah to him.”
How Allah has reminded us of the Divine covenant
Verily! There is no limit to Allah’s benedictions. He always blesses his men with favours and this is not because of their deeds. Allah the most Compassionate sent His Prophets to remind mankind of the Divine covenant in every era. After the conclusion of Prophethood, He sends the Saints. It is not possible that Allah keeps the world without the presence of His special slaves. He loves His creation so much, shall He not send his chosen man to remind us of the Divine covenant in this era? Undoubtedly everyone gets what he has struggled for. If one struggles to fulfill the Divine covenant then Allah also guides him to His chosen men.
Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen also reminds us of the Divine covenant:
Allah has favored us with the perfect Saint Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman in this materialistic era. He reminds his seekers to fulfill the Divine covenant. He is the 31st perfect Shaikh of the Sarwari Qadri Order. It is the order of Ghaus-ul-Azam. It continued in the subcontinent through Sultan Bahoo. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen is in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet. His way of training is the same as the Holy Prophet. He does not involve his disciples in mystic struggles or hard exercises. Rather, he gives them the invocation and contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat and the sultan of invocations Hoo. He purges their inward and also purifies their innerself by his spiritual sight. It is by the beneficence of his spiritual sight that whoever finds his company, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen fills his inward with the love of Allah. He becomes aware of the reality of the world and struggles to fulfill the Divine covenant. One thing he must do is to remain humble and sincere in the court of his spiritual guide. It is a proverb that:
- “The obedient ones are rewarded while the disobedient remain unsuccessful.”
Closing note:
We need to promise ourselves to renounce the fake charms of the world and elevate our inciting innerself to peaceful innerself by pledging allegiance to Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen. Thus, get closer to Allah and fulfill the Divine covenant we made in the realm of Divinity. May Allah give us the opportunity to fulfill our promise to Him. Amin
