Summary:
The Quran is presented as the only Divine book that has maintained its authenticity, unlike previous scriptures that were altered after the messengers passed away. Allah has taken the responsibility to protect the Quran, as emphasized in verses that assert its divine origin and preservation. The Quran confirms the authenticity of earlier scriptures, calling on the People of the Book to believe in its teachings while highlighting the need for honesty about Allah’s nature and the oneness of God, countering the misinterpretations found in Christianity.
Christianity, particularly the beliefs surrounding the Trinity and the crucifixion of Prophet Isa (Jesus), is scrutinized through the lens of the Quran. The Trinitarian Doctrine, which posits that God exists as three persons, is deemed incorrect according to Quranic teachings, which emphasize the oneness of Allah. Furthermore, the Quran refutes the claim that Isa was crucified, stating that he was instead raised to Allah. These assertions challenge key Christian beliefs, suggesting that human interpretations have led to the distortion of the original message delivered by Prophet Isa.
The universal nature of Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) message is highlighted as he is the last prophet sent to all of humanity, unlike his predecessors, who were sent to specific nations. The Quran serves as a comprehensive guide for all people, emphasizing that true success in this world and the next can only be achieved by adhering to its teachings. The blog concludes with a call for spiritual guidance from a knowledgeable leader to fully understand the Quran’s message, suggesting Sultan ul Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman as an exemplary figure in this pursuit.
THE UNIVERSALITY OF QURAN
Each messenger from Adam to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) that came to this world had only one mission; to preach true religion. Previous ummas used to forget the teachings of their messengers once they passed away. They used to alter their Divine books according to their own benefit. Quran is the only Divine book that exists in its true form to this day. That is because Allah Himself took responsibility for its protection.
Allah says:
Assuredly, We alone have revealed this Glorious Admonition (the Qur’an), and surely We alone will guard it. (15 : 9)
The authenticity of other Divine books also lies within the Quran.
Allah says:
And believe in (the Book) that I have revealed (to My Messenger Mohammad), whilst it confirms (originally) that which you possess. And do not be the first to deny it, nor trade My Revelations for a small (worldly) price. And fear Me alone. (2:41)
O People of the Book! Believe in that (Book) which We have revealed (now to Our Beloved Mohammad) which (originally) confirms the Book that is with you. (4:47)
And the Book (the Qur’an) that We have revealed to you is the truth and confirms the former Books. Surely, Allah is Well Aware of His servants, All-Seeing. (35:31)
CHRISTIANITY UNDER THE LIGHT OF QURAN
Allah sent Prophet Isa to Bani Israel as their messenger and revealed the book “Injil” (Gospel). All the verification of Prophet Isa and his preachings is found in Quran. Christianity, as it is believed today, is not what was written in the Gospel. False additions have been made in the religion that lead to way wardness.
Some of the wrong beliefs in the present Christianity are as follows. Alongside how the holy Quran presents arguments about these dogmas is also mentioned.
FUNDAMENTAL RULES OF THE CURRENT CHRISTIANITY
The Trinitarian Doctrine
In Christianity, god is blended from three persons; the father, the son and the holy spirit.
This is called the Trinitarian Doctrine. However, there’s a lot of argument between Christian scholars as to who exactly are those three persons. Some believe god is the blend of all three. Yet some say god is the merging of the father, son and virgin Mary. A book “Yahoodiat, Isaiyat aur Islam”(Judaism, Christianity and Islam) states:
“The father” is the Divine essence. God’s attribute of conversation is “the son”. God’s attributes of life and love are basically “the holy spirit”.
The Quran however, contradicts this ideology.Sura al-Nisa states:
O People of the Book! Exceed not the limits in your din (religion), and speak nothing but the truth about Allah’s glory. The fact is simple that the Messiah, ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary) is Allah’s Messenger and His Word which He conveyed to Maryam (Mary) and a Spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His Messengers and do not say: ‘There are three (Gods).’ Refrain (from this belief); (that) is best for you. Verily, Allah is the Only One God, Holy is He, far above having a son. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth (all) belongs to Him alone. And Sufficient is Allah as a Guardian. (4:171)
Prophet Isa always used to address himself as “a man of God”. Therefore, the trinitarian doctrine is proven incorrect.
The Quran says:
The Messiah feels no embarrassment in being a servant of Allah. Nor do the closest angels (ever feel ashamed). And whoever disdains to be His servant and perpetrates arrogance, He will soon assemble together all such people before Him. (4:172)
THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD – ALLAH
All messengers that have passed only spread the message of Allah’s Oneness (Tawhid). Prophet Isa too preached to worship Allah alone and refrain from associating partners with Him. The “trinitarian doctrine” was invented by humans.
Quran mentions Prophet Isa Saying:
And surely, Allah is my Lord and your Lord (too). So always worship Him alone. This is the straight path. (19: 36)
I said to them nothing except (that) which You ordered me to say: Worship (only) Allah, Who is my Lord and your Lord (too). And I kept a vigilant watch over (their beliefs and actions) so long as I was amongst them. But when You lifted me up, then You alone watched over their (affairs), and You are a Witness to everything. (5:117)
The trinitarian doctrine has been nullified at another place in the Quran:
And when Allah will say:
‘O ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary)! Did you ask the people to take you and your mother as two gods besides Allah?’ He will submit: ‘Glory be to You! It is not (justified) for me to say such a thing as I have no right to say. Had I said it, You would surely have known it. You know every such (thing) that is in my heart, but I do not know those (things) which are in Your knowledge. Indeed, it is only You Who know well all that is unseen. (5:116)
CRUCIFICATION IS A FALSE THEORY
Crucifixion
Like the trinitarian doctrine, Christians have another false belief that Prophet Isa was crucified. They believe that he was resurrected three days after he died. He gave some instructions to his companions and then left the world. (Isaiyat kay Batil Aqeeday)
Nonetheless, the true incident has been mentioned in the Quran as such:
And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. (4:157)
Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (4: 158)
When Allah said: ‘O ‘Isa (Jesus), I will surely bring your term of life to completion; and I am about to lift you towards Myself (in the heavens), and deliver you from the disbelievers, and exalt your followers above (these) disbelievers till the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me you all have to return. So I shall judge between you in the matters about which you used to dispute.’ (3:55)
It is clearly mentioned in the Quran that Allah had raised Isa up in the heavens. In fact hadiths also state that he shall return to the world before the world ends.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts. (Sahih Al Bukhari-2222)
PROPHET ISA’S ASCENSION
There are four Gospels famous among Christians; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And if we consider Prophet Isa’s incident, none of the gospels correspond with the other. Christians claim all gospels are words of Allah that were revealed upon Jesus. If that’s the case, then why do the words of one gospel contradict the other? It is not possible that there is contrast between Allah’s words. In reality, the incident of crucifixion is false. Allah saved Prophet Isa by ascending him up before he could be crucified. And this part is only mentioned in one gospel; the Gospel of Barnabas. Christians do not believe in it.
WHAT DOES THE GOSPEL OF BARNABAS SAY RELATED TO THIS INCIDENT:
Right when Allah saw His man in danger, he ordered his archangels; Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and Uriel, to save Jesus from the world.
(Gospel of Barnabas)
The moment he was saying this, soldiers entered and slew Judah as he looked exactly like Jesus.
(Gospel of Barnabas)
SALVATION (AQEEDA KAFFARA)
When Adam was born he was given all kinds of freedom. He was allowed to eat anything he desired except for the fruit on one forbidden tree. However, Satan deluded Adam and he ate the very fruit. This is known as the “Original Sin” in Christianity. This led to two things; eternal torment for Adam, and he lost his will power. Hence, he was free to commit sin but not to do good. Since all humans are born from Adam and Eve, they possess the original sin. Every human is born a sinner the moment he leaves his mother’s womb.
Salvation is the fundamental block of current Christianity. Its literal meaning is to cover or hide. In religious terminology, it means Jesus gave his life through crucifixion as a sacrifice, hence covered for all sins committed by children of Adam. He gave up his life and rid humanity of the burden of Original Sin.
The Encyclopaedia Brittanica explains Salvation as follows:
According to Christianity, salvation is referred to as that sacrifice of Jesus that makes a sinful man turn instantly toward God. This belief has two hypotheses; first one being Adam’s sin making man distant from God. Second one is that attribute of conversation (the son) was given to humans so that he could help people regain closeness to God.
TRUE INCIDENT OF ADAM AND EVEN IN THE LIGHT OF QURAN
There is no doubt in the fact that Allah forbade Adam to eat the particular fruit that he ate. That is when He removed him from heaven and sent him to the earth. Adam was ashamed of his act so he asked for Allah’s forgiveness. Allah forgave him. This is how this incident is mentioned in the Quran:
And We ordained: ‘O Adam, reside you and your wife in this Paradise and eat of it, both of you, whatever you like and from wherever you will. But do not go near this tree lest you should (join) the transgressors. Then Satan shook them from that place, and removed them from the (blissful) location where they were. And (eventually) We ordained: ‘Go down (and live in the earth); you will remain enemies to each other, and now in the earth you have been destined a dwelling place and sustenance for a fixed time.’ (2:35-36)
Then Adam learnt some words (of humility and repentance) from his Lord. So Allah accepted his repentance. Surely, He is the One Who is Most Relenting, Ever-Merciful. (2:37)
These verses confirm that Adam sought forgiveness and Allah forgave him. So basically, the belief of salvation in Christians is self-appointed. Allah is The Most Merciful. He always acknowledges a seeker’s purely intended repentance. Adam himself prayed to Allah:
Both of them submitted: ‘O our Lord! We have wronged our souls. And if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall certainly be amongst the losers.’ (7:23)
MAN IS FREE TO CHOOSE GOOD OR BAD
The matter at hand is whether a person is free to choose between doing good or committing sins. Allah has granted humans the choice to follow any path they wish – whether to engage in righteous deeds and attain paradise or commit sins and face the flames of hell that are inscribed in their portion. Allah has given man free will.
And that man (according to justice) will get only that for which he strives. (As for bounty, no one has any right to it. That is merely Allah’s bestowal and pleasure, granting as much as He wills to whom He pleases.) And that all his endeavors will soon be shown (i.e., exposed). Then he will be given full reward (for all his endeavors); (53:39-41)
THE UNIVERSAL NATURE OF THE PROPHETHOOD OF PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH)
If an examination of the Islamic religion is conducted, it is evident that the Quran affirms that Allah appointed Prophet Isa (Jesus) as a prophet specifically for the Bani Israel. Moreover, including Prophet Isa, all the prophets, including those who came before, have given glad tidings of the arrival of Prophet Mohammad as the final prophet in the world.
Some references are as follows:
Prophet Isa (Jesus) said, ‘As long as I do not depart from this world, the Comforter will not come to you. But when I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will give guidance about sins, walk the straight path, and administer justice.’ (12:7-8)
Here, “comforter” could only mean Prophet Mohammad since he is the one who came after the ascension of Prophet Isa.
Prophet Isa said, “I will pray to Allah to send you a soother who will always stay with you.” (John -12-13)
This prophecy is only true for Prophet Mohammad because he came as the last Prophet with a comprehensive message for the entire world. His prophethood and the message of the Quran are eternal.
The Gospel of Barnabas mentions:
Jesus responded, “Truth is, Allah promised as such, but I am not him. Because he was born before me but he will come after me.”
“The one who will come from the South with power, and destroy all idols and idol worshippers.”
“But my reassurance lies in the coming of that Prophet who will dispel all false notions about me, spread his faith, and become widespread throughout the world. Because Allah has promised this through our beloved Ibrahim.”
All this concludes the fact that the prophet he talked about is in fact Mohammad (pbuh).
PREVIOUS MESSENGERS WERE ONLY FOR A SPECIFIC NATION
All the messengers Allah sent were assigned to an umma.
Their prophethood was temporary. However, Prophet Mohammad’s prophethood is eternal and for all. He is the last link of the chain of prophets. No one can claim to be Muslim who denies his prophethood and the Quran that was revealed to him. Ultimate success in both the worlds is achieved only by following Islam.
Allah says:
And, (O Esteemed Prophet,) We have not sent you but as a Bearer of the glad tidings and as a Warner to the entire mankind, but most people do not know. (34:28)
The message of Islam is universal and the prophet’s guidance is for all mankind. He came to complete sharia.
“Quran is not except a reminder to the worlds.” (12:104)
Hadith states:
Every apostle was sent particularly to his own people, whereas I have been sent to all the red and the black the spoils of war have been made lawful for me” (Muslim 1163)
Conclusion
The Quran, with its deep and symbolic meanings, is a treasure trove of pearls, guiding the people of truth towards righteousness and the correct path. To comprehend the Divine message of the Quran, it is crucial to seek the company of a leader who not only clarifies the apparent aspects but also illuminates the spiritual dimensions. Understanding the reality of Islam as a comprehensive way of life should enlighten the inward and make one aware of the true purpose of existence in this world. In the present era, Sultan ul Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman stands as such an exemplary guide. Every seeker of truth can connect with him to fulfill their spiritual aspirations and gain true insight into the purpose of life in this world.
The Quran and Christianity share common narratives of prophets, but diverge on theological aspects. Islam considers Jesus a prophet, not the Son of God, and sees the Quran as the final revelation. While acknowledging prior scriptures, the Quran asserts its completeness and finality, distinguishing Islamic beliefs from Christian doctrines.
The Quran holds a universal role in Islam, serving as a timeless and complete guide for all aspects of life. It provides moral, legal, and spiritual principles applicable to diverse cultures. Its message is universally relevant, emphasizing justice, compassion, and guidance for righteous living across different times and places.
